Itinerary Details

Morning: Ho Chi Minh City

The trip begins at our travel office with a visit to the Reunification Palace, the former residence of the President of South Vietnam until the end of the war in April 1975. Next, we will explore several impressive French colonial landmarks, including the Old Central Post Office and the War Remnants Museum. Afterward, we will visit the iconic City Hall. The tour concludes with a relaxing break at Ben Thanh Market, where you can find a wide variety of items for sale.

Afternoon: Cu Chi Tunnels

Located 60 km from HCMC, Cu Chi is now a popular spot for both Vietnamese and foreign tourists. The network of over 200 km of tunnels became legendary for playing a vital role during the war. In their heyday, the tunnels functioned as underground cities, including numerous trap doors, specially constructed living areas, storage facilities, weapons factories, field hospitals, command centers, and kitchens.

Today, ducks and water buffaloes happily coexist in the rivers along the side of the road. However, the peaceful rural rice paddy scenery belies the area’s violent history. Visitors will find it hard to imagine the destruction, damage, and defoliation caused by bombing and mines. Ample evidence remains of the intense battles that raged here during the 1960s when Cu Chi was designated a “Free Target Zone.”

Start your tour with a short introductory video showing how the tunnels were constructed. You will spend the next hour exploring the tunnels. Afterwards, enjoy tea and cassava (the guerrilla food during the war) before returning to Ho Chi Minh City.
