Highland Lunar New Year 2026 (TET festival)

1. Introduction

“Tết Vùng Cao” (Highland Lunar New Year) is an annual charity program organized by Vietnam Local Adventures and the Hope Team, aiming to bring a warmer and more fulfilling Lunar New Year to ethnic minority communities in remote highland areas. This program is not only about material support but also a way to share love, spread kindness, and affirm the spirit of solidarity – “the good leaves protect the worn-out ones.”

In 2026, the journey of compassion will continue to Hua Lạnh and Huổi Hịa villages in Sốp Cộp commune, Sơn La province. These borderland villages have long faced poverty and recently suffered severe damage from devastating floods.

2. About Hua Lạnh and Huổi Hịa

Hua Lạnh is a remote highland village where most of the residents belong to ethnic minority groups. Life here is filled with hardship – limited access to transportation, education, and healthcare.
Huổi Hịa shares the same challenges. After the recent floods, many households lost all of their belongings, crops were destroyed, and survival has become even more difficult.

During the harsh winter, many children still lack warm clothes, and families struggle with food insecurity. Yet, the people remain resilient, hardworking, and deeply connected to their homeland. This is why community support means so much – it brings encouragement and hope to overcome challenges.

3. The Meaning of the Program

“Tết Vùng Cao 2026” is not only about delivering practical gifts such as rice, sweets, warm clothing, and scholarships but also about bringing hope and emotional support.

It is a time for all of us to share, connect, and spread love, carrying the message:
“The whole nation joins hands for the poor – leaving no one behind.”

4. Call for Support

We sincerely invite the companionship of philanthropists, organizations, and individuals with compassionate hearts. Every gift, every contribution – no matter how small – can bring joy, warmth, and smiles to highland families as Tết approaches.

5. Event Information

Location: Hua Lạnh Cultural House, Sốp Cộp commune, Sơn La province
Time: January 30 – February 1, 2026 (Lunar calendar: December 12 – 14)
Beneficiaries: Families from both Hua Lạnh and Huổi Hịa villages (Huổi Hịa residents will travel to Hua Lạnh to receive gifts).

6. Main Activities

Deliver Tết gifts to households in difficult circumstances.
Provide scholarships and support for underprivileged students at risk of dropping out of school.
Free medical check-ups and medicine distribution.
Organize spring activities: folk games, bánh chưng making, tug-of-war, stick pushing…
Visit and encourage families to ensure they feel the joy and warmth of Tết.

7. Program Budget

Estimated total: 357,211,250 VND
Raised so far: 206,776,250 VND (58%) (100% by our local team)
Still needed: 150,435,000 VND (42%)

8. Appeal

We cannot erase all hardships overnight, but together we can light up hope and bring a warmer, more fulfilling Tết to the families of Hua Lạnh and Huổi Hịa.

Let’s ensure that the children of the borderlands will not suffer from the cold without warm clothes, that struggling families will enjoy a proper New Year, and that love is spread across every corner of our country.
