Itinerary Details
Day 1: Cao Bang City → Phja Thap Village → Ha Lang → Ban Gioc Waterfall
8:00 AM – Start your day with a hearty breakfast at the hostel in Cao Bang City, fueling up for an exciting adventure ahead.
8:30 AM – Time to hit the road! Our guide will pick you up, and we’ll set off on a scenic journey through winding mountain passes and charming ethnic villages.
Our first stop is Ma Phuc Pass, where you’ll be greeted with breathtaking panoramic views. Then, we visit Phja Thap Village, home to the Nùng ethnic group, known for their traditional craft of making incense. Next, we pass through Phúc Sen Village, famous for its skilled blacksmiths who have been forging tools for generations.
The highlight of the day? Ban Gioc Waterfall, the largest and most stunning waterfall in Vietnam, right on the border with China. Feel the mist on your face as you take in the sheer beauty of this natural wonder. Just a short distance away, we’ll explore Nguom Ngao Cave, a mesmerizing underground world filled with impressive stalactites and stalagmites.
After an adventurous day, we settle into a cozy homestay near Ban Gioc Waterfall, where a warm, home-cooked dinner awaits. Relax, soak in the peaceful atmosphere, and get ready for another exciting day ahead!
Day 2: Ban Gioc Waterfall → Phong Nam Village → Angel Eye Mountain → Lê Nin River & Pac Bo Cave
Wake up to the fresh mountain air and the soothing sound of Ban Gioc Waterfall nearby. After breakfast, we set off on another incredible day of exploring Cao Bang’s hidden gems.
Our first stop is Phong Nam Village, a peaceful countryside haven surrounded by rice fields and traditional stilt houses of the Tày ethnic group. Here, you’ll witness the authentic rural life of northern Vietnam, where locals still farm and live in harmony with nature.
Next, we visit the legendary Núi Thủng (Angel Eye Mountain)—a breathtaking limestone mountain with a massive circular hole in its center, creating a natural “eye” in the sky. This surreal landscape is a must-see, offering spectacular photo opportunities.
From there, we continue to Lê Nin River and Pac Bo Cave, a site of great historical significance. This is where Ho Chi Minh lived and worked upon returning to Vietnam in 1941. The emerald-green river and peaceful surroundings make it hard to believe this place was once a revolutionary base. Take a moment to soak in the history, enjoy the pristine nature, and reflect on the journey so far.
As the day winds down, we settle into a cozy homestay near Pac Bo Cave, where a delicious home-cooked dinner awaits. Another day of adventure, culture, and unforgettable landscapes!
Day 3: Pac Bo Cave – Lê Nin River → Na Tenh Pass → Xuan Truong Valley → Khau Coc Cha Pass → Bao Lac
8:00 AM – Wake up to the peaceful surroundings of Pac Bo Cave and enjoy a hearty breakfast at the homestay, preparing for another thrilling day of adventure.
8:30 AM – Time to hit the road! Our journey today takes us through some of the most stunning and untouched landscapes in Cao Bang.
First, we’ll cross Na Tenh Pass, where the winding roads open up to breathtaking mountain views. This is the perfect spot to take in the raw beauty of northern Vietnam. From there, we make our way to Xuan Truong Valley, a hidden gem filled with lush green fields and traditional stilt houses, offering a glimpse into the tranquil life of local ethnic communities.
Next, we tackle the legendary Khau Coc Cha Pass, also known as the “Nine Turns Pass” due to its dramatic switchbacks. This pass is a dream for adventure lovers, offering one of the most thrilling rides in the region! Be sure to have your camera ready—the panoramic views from the top are absolutely unreal.
As the day winds down, we arrive in Bao Lac, a charming town nestled in the mountains. Here, we check in at a cozy homestay or hotel, where a warm dinner and a relaxing evening await. After a day filled with stunning landscapes and exciting roads, this is the perfect place to rest up before the final stretch of our journey.
Day 4: Bao Lac → Khuoi Khon Village (Lo Lo Ethnic Group) → Nguyen Binh → Ba Be Lake
8:00 AM – Start your morning with a warm, home-cooked breakfast at the homestay, fueling up for the final leg of this incredible journey.
8:30 AM – We set off towards Khuoi Khon Village, home to the Lo Lo ethnic group, one of Vietnam’s most unique and culturally rich communities. This is a rare chance to immerse yourself in their traditional way of life, learn about their ancient customs, and admire the stunning wooden stilt houses surrounded by misty mountains.
From there, we continue towards Nguyen Binh, passing through scenic valleys and winding roads that showcase the untouched beauty of northern Vietnam.
2:30 PM – We arrive at the breathtaking Ba Be Lake, the largest natural freshwater lake in Vietnam, nestled within a lush national park. Hop on a boat ride to explore its emerald waters, hidden caves, and towering limestone cliffs—pure tranquility at its best.
After an unforgettable afternoon on the lake, we settle into a cozy homestay by the water, where a warm dinner and a peaceful night await.
