Itinerary Details
Day 1: Hanoi – Ha Giang – Thon Tha
Kick off your journey with a 7:30 AM pickup from your hotel in Hanoi. By early afternoon, you’ll arrive in Ha Giang City, stopping along the way to enjoy a hearty lunch. Your home for the night is a charming Tay traditional bungalow in Thon Tha Village, just 5km from the city on the direction to Thanh Thuy border gate. This rustic stilt house, with its cozy mattresses, warm blankets, and peaceful atmosphere, offers a true slice of local life. Spend the afternoon exploring the tranquil village, meeting friendly locals, or cooling off with a refreshing dip at the nearby waterfall. A peaceful night in this authentic setting awaits.
Day 2: Thon Tha – Yen Minh – Skypath – Dong Van
Wake up in the heart of a peaceful village, surrounded by lush terraced rice paddies and crisp mountain air—it’s the perfect way to start your day. After a delicious breakfast and a heartfelt farewell to your cozy homestay, you’ll hit the road towards Meo Vac and Dong Van, with memories of last night’s good food and “happy water” to keep you smiling.
Your first stop is Lung Tam, a village famous for its handmade linen, followed by a climb to a scenic viewpoint that reveals Dong Van Global Geo-Park’s sprawling rice terraces. Next, make your way to Yen Minh Peak for breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.
The highlight of the day is hiking along the Skypath on the edge of Ma Pi Leng, where you’ll visit a Flower H’mong village, learning about their way of life and listening to the peaceful rhythm of their everyday world. The hike length depends on the weather, but your guide will keep you informed about the best time to head back to Dong Van, where you’ll check into your hotel for a well-deserved rest.
Day 3: Dong Van – H’mong King Palace – Sung La – Nam Dam
Today, we’re in for another amazing adventure as we make our way through stunning mountain landscapes and stop by several villages to visit H’mong families. The views of the Rock Plateau are breathtaking, and the ride is nothing short of spectacular. One of the highlights of the day is the visit to the H’mong King’s Palace—a fascinating historical site that tells the story of the royal family during French colonial times. With its unique blend of European and Chinese architectural styles, it’s a real treat for anyone interested in history or design.
Next, we’ll make our way to Sung La, a picturesque village that feels like a world away from the hustle and bustle of modern life. This remote village was famously featured in the award-winning movie Pao’s Story, and it’s easy to see why—it’s the perfect spot for travelers seeking something special or movie enthusiasts eager to visit the filming location.
We’ll then explore Lung Khuy Cave, one of Ha Giang’s newest and most impressive caves, discovered only in 2015. Afterward, it’s time to head to Nam Dam village, where we’ll settle into a traditional Coin Dao brick-roof house. You’ll have your own private room, though the bathroom is outside the house, adding a touch of authenticity to the experience. Depending on when we arrive, your guide will take you on a walking tour of this lively village, where you can meet the locals and immerse yourself in their daily life. It’s going to be another unforgettable day in the mountains.
Day 4: Nam Dam – Lung Khuy Cave – Hanoi
After breakfast at 8:00 AM, it’s time to check out of your homestay and start the journey back to Hanoi. But before we hit the road, we’ll make a stop at the stunning Quan Ba Heaven Gate and the famous Twin Mountains. Your guide will share the local legend behind these incredible landmarks, adding a bit of magic to the already breathtaking views.
On our way back, we’ll also visit the Ha Giang Museum, where you’ll get a deeper understanding of the rich history and vibrant culture of this fascinating region.
By late afternoon, we’ll be heading back to Hanoi, where we’ll wrap up the tour around 6:30 PM. It’s been an amazing adventure, and we hope you’re leaving with unforgettable memories from this beautiful part of Vietnam!
