Sapa Trekking and Bac Ha market Tour – 4 Days/ 3 Nights

Itinerary:

Explore the bustling Bac Ha market, situated at the heart of Bac Ha small town, renowned as the largest in the region. Every Sunday, a diverse array of colorful ethnic minorities, including H’mong, Phu La, Back Dzao, Tay, or Nung, gather here to sell their homemade products or procure items for their families. Notably, some of these ethnic minorities cannot be encountered in any other regions.

The highlight of this journey is immersing yourself in the vibrant Bac Ha market, a weekly spectacle occurring only on Sundays. Additionally, enjoy a delightful boat excursion upstream along the Chay River and partake in leisurely walks through the charming Tay village.

Brief Itinerary

Day 1-Saturday: Hanoi – Night train to Lao Cai
Day 2-Sunday: Lao Cai – Bac Ha market – Sapa
Day 3-Monday: Walk through Rice field Half day – Ham Rong Mountain – Train back to Hanoi
Day 4-Tuesday: Hanoi – Arrival

 

Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: Hanoi – Night Train to Lao Cai

At 8:00 PM, be picked up from the hotel lobby in Hanoi and transferred to Hanoi Railways station for the night train journey to Sapa. Overnight accommodation is on the train.

Day 2: Lao Cai – Explore Bac Ha Market – Sapa (B, L)

Around 6:30 AM, upon arrival at Lao Cai Railways station, receive a warm welcome from a local guide, followed by a simple breakfast at a local restaurant. Begin the drive to Bac Ha town, with a relatively flat road from Lao Cai to Bao Nhai Bridge. After crossing the bridge, embark on a journey to Bac Ha, home to the largest market in the region. Every Sunday, diverse and colorful ethnic minorities, including Hmong, Phu La, Back Dzao, Tay, or Nung, converge here to sell their homemade products or purchase items for their families. Some of these ethnic minorities cannot be encountered in any other areas. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant and then transfer to Sapa for overnight stay.

 

 

 

 

 

Day 3: Half-Day Walk through Rice Fields – Ham Rong Mountain – Night Train to Hanoi (B)

Following breakfast at the hotel, embark on a short journey south toward Muong Hoa valley. Commence a walk by descending into the valley, the largest rice paddy terraced area in Sapa. The guide provides interesting insights into rice cultivation, especially if visiting between May and October, during planting and harvesting seasons. The walk takes you from Lao Chai village of the Black Hmong minority to Ta Van village of the Giay minority, including a visit to the local Catholic Church. After visiting Ta Van, the car returns to Sapa. Check out at 12:00 PM and then ascend Ham Rong Mountain for a panoramic view of Sapa, the city in the clouds. In the afternoon, transfer back to Lao Cai for the night train to Hanoi. Overnight accommodation is on the train.

Day 4: Hanoi – Arrival

Upon arrival at Hanoi Railways station, receive a warm welcome and transfer to the hotel. The trip concludes.
