Itinerary Details
Day 1: Sapa Town – Sa Seng – Hau Thao – Giang Ta Chai. Overnight Stay at Homestay in Giang Ta Chai (L/D)
Full Day Excursions
Commence your day trip by leaving your Sapa town hotel at 8:00 am with our guide and driver. Feel free to leave your luggage at the hotel while you embark on the trek.
The driver will transfer you to the main road, heading to Sa Seng village, where your trek along the Muong Hoa Valley begins. Traverse villages with soil paths, immersing yourself in the authentic life of hill tribe communities and their activities on terrace fields. The trek takes you through Sa Seng, Hau Thao, and Giang Ta Chai villages, allowing encounters with Black H’mong in Hau Thao, and Red Zao people in Sa Seng and Giang Ta Chai. Enjoy a homestay in Giang Ta Chai village with standard community travel facilities, including hot showers, mosquito nets over the beds, and delicious traditional food with a family dinner.
Note:
This is a moderate 14 km trek off the beaten track.
Homestay accommodation is clean and safe; no need to bring a sleeping bag.
If you’re already in Sapa, you can leave your luggage at your hotel. If you arrived in Sapa this morning by night train, take a shuttle bus or taxi from Lao Cai to Sapa town, and have breakfast with a shower before the trip.
Option 1: Lao Chai / Ta Van (5 km, soft trek, very touristy)
Option 2: Sapa – Suoi Ho – Ma Tra – Ta Phin village (15 km from Sapa town, easy – medium trek)
Extra Charge for Optional:
Private car pick-up from Lao Cai Train Station to Sapa town.
Room for a shower after a night on the train.
Day 2: Giang Ta Chai – Su Pan – Sapa (B/L)
Spend the morning in the village, engaging in mountain life activities and experiences. Explore Giang Ta Chai Village, hidden behind an old tree and bamboo forest, where a spectacular Cau May waterfall awaits. Trek through rice fields, cross a suspension bridge to the other side of the river.
From Giang Ta Chai village, continue the trek uphill to Su Pan Village, the land of Red Dzao and a small number of Black H’mong Ethnic People. Visit a local family and navigate the steep and challenging trekking distance from Giang Ta Chai Village along the Muong Hoa Stream.
The driver will pick you up at Su Pan and transfer you back to Sapa town. The tour concludes at your hotel in Sapa. We hope that after your Sapa trip, you’ll have a comprehensive understanding of local life. Happy travels.
