Accompanying Children on Their Way to School – Charity Program in Phieng Khom, Son La

Introduction

On August 23rd, 2025, Vietnam Local Adventures and HOPE TEAM, together with volunteers, successfully organized the charity program “Accompanying Children on Their Way to School” at Phieng Khom Primary School – Phieng Khom Village – Phieng Cam Commune – Son La Province.

This program was born from our desire to bring practical support and encouragement to underprivileged children in remote highland areas, helping them continue their educational journey with more hope and confidence.

The Story of Phieng Khom

💔 Phieng Khom is a remote highland village, far from the town center. The roads are steep and treacherous, and frequent heavy rains often cause landslides. After storms, muddy dirt roads make travel extremely difficult, with many sections nearly cut off. The villagers mainly rely on farming and live in poverty, lacking basic necessities.

👣 Children at Phieng Khom Primary School have to walk for hours, crossing slopes and streams, just to reach their classroom. Yet, their pure eyes and radiant smiles when receiving a new notebook or enjoying a warm meal deeply touched our hearts.

Main Activities

🎁 Handed out clothes, hats, sandals, school bags, notebooks, and learning materials to more than 200 children.
🍬 Distributed candies and small gifts to the students.
🍜 Launched the “Cooking for Kids” program: with the support of teachers and local people, we successfully prepared and served over 200 bowls of hot chicken noodle soup for the children.
🏞️ Built stronger connections between volunteers, teachers, and the local community through meaningful activities.

Program Budget

According to the official report, the total budget for the program was 150,457,000 VND.

Thanks to the generosity of local friends and donors, 100% of the budget was successfully covered.

💡 Every volunteer covered their own transportation and accommodation costs, ensuring that all donations went directly to the children and families in Phieng Khom.

✅ The program was successfully completed with full transparency and community support.
